1. Who We Are

Behind Skiing is an independently developed iOS application created by a solo indie developer. This privacy policy describes how the app handles — or more precisely, does not handle — any user data. There is no company, no team, and no data infrastructure behind this app.

2. Data We Do NOT Collect

We do not collect, store, process, or share any of the following:

We have no database, no backend server, and no system capable of storing user data. It is technically impossible for us to access your personal information.

3. Location Data

The app may request access to your device location for one purpose only: to show nearby ski services (rentals, repair, medical) using Apple's MapKit framework. This location lookup happens entirely on your device using Apple's on-device APIs. Your coordinates are never transmitted to our servers because we have no servers.

Location permission is optional. If denied, the app defaults to Vail Village coordinates and all other features continue to work normally. You can revoke location access at any time in iOS Settings.

4. Network Requests to Third-Party APIs

The app makes outbound HTTP requests to the following public APIs to fetch weather and avalanche data. These requests originate from your device and include your IP address as part of standard internet communication. We do not control these services.

None of these services receive any personal information from us, because we do not collect any to pass along.

5. Analytics and Crash Reporting

Behind Skiing does not integrate any analytics SDK, crash reporting tool, A/B testing library, or user behavior tracking system. We do not use Firebase, Mixpanel, Amplitude, Sentry, Crashlytics, or any equivalent service.

Apple may collect anonymized, aggregated diagnostics through iOS if you have opted into Apple's Device Analytics program. This is governed by Apple's own privacy policy and is not data we receive or can access.

6. Advertising

Behind Skiing may display ads served by Google AdMob. AdMob may collect certain non-personal, aggregated data such as device type and general location for ad delivery purposes. This is governed by Google's Privacy Policy at policies.google.com/privacy. We do not receive, access, or store any personal user data through AdMob. You can opt out of personalized ads at any time in iOS Settings under Privacy and Security — Apple Advertising.

7. Children's Privacy

Behind Skiing does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children under the age of 13. Because we collect no personal data from any user, the app is compliant with COPPA by design.

8. Your Rights (GDPR / CCPA)

If you are located in the European Economic Area or California, you may have rights regarding your personal data. Because Behind Skiing does not collect, store, or process any personal data, there is no data to access, correct, export, or delete. These rights are satisfied by the nature of the app itself.

9. Data Security

Because we do not collect or store any personal data, there is no personal data at risk of breach, unauthorized access, or misuse from our side. All data displayed in the app is public meteorological and avalanche safety information retrieved from government and open-source sources.

10. Changes to This Policy

If this privacy policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this URL with a revised effective date. We will not retroactively apply weaker privacy standards to any previously collected data — because there is none.

11. Contact

If you have questions or concerns about this privacy policy, you can reach out via the GitHub repository linked from the App Store listing, or through the App Store review system. As a solo indie developer, I personally read and respond to all inquiries.
